S1: Observe Merits and Appreciate Kindness (OMAK)

This week, our Secondary 1 students explored the pathway to happiness, symbolized by OMAK (Observe Merits Appreciate Kindness). They watched an inspiring video featuring teachers Ms. Shirley and Mdm Soot Beng, identifying their acts of kindness. We introduced them to the 5 steps of OMAK and shared a meaningful Lamrim saying: "Instead of covering the earth with soft grass, why don't I wear a shoe?" OMAK will be their guiding "shoe," empowering them to be proactive in spreading kindness.

Next, the Secondary 1 students explored how to approach problems and challenges by considering two perspectives: OMAK (Observe Merits Appreciate Kindness) or complaining. They watched a video where young people discussed their parents' restrictions and realized that by applying the 5 steps of OMAK, they could appreciate their parents and recognize the positive actions taken on their behalf. Our aim is for the youth to find positivity in challenges and become happier individuals.
