Day By Day is a website dedicated to the youth community at BW Monastery.
We want to build a digital repository of resources that we will need to grow spiritually, and words of wisdom that will tide us through adversities.
This space also holds dear memories created with our virtuous friends and serves as a reminder that this community will be here for you and me, always.
About Stargazers
The youth community at BW Monastery is known as Stargazers (or, 观心者 in Chinese).
“Stargazers” represents our aspiration to achieve a state of perfect bliss, just like the Buddha when He attained enlightenment upon gazing at the starry night sky.
It also demonstrates how we look to our spiritual teachers for guidance and walk upon the path they point us to, just like how constellations are an important tool of navigation for humankind. “Stargazers” also reminds us to set our intention right and observe our hearts like the Buddha taught us to, and to care for all sentient beings like the wise and compassionate sages before us.
Our Logo
The window-like shape shows us looking through the window and gazing at the stars.
Just as the Buddha attained enlightenment by gazing up at the starry night, we too look upon the stars, not to make us feel insignificant but to set our aims and goals in life, to aspire to be just like the Buddha one day.
The snowy mountains represent the birthplace of Master Tsongkhapa, with the two stars being our Teachers, guiding us along this path, and finally, the biggest star being Buddhahood.
