Sec 2: What are great leaders made up of? (Part 2)
In this week's Omni lesson, the secondary two youths learned the remaining five good qualities of a leader - Empathy, Respect, Gratitude, Communication, and Influence - through examples.
- My friend complains to me her mum nags her every day. To show empathy, I stay out of judgment and acknowledge her perspective.
- Being a leader doesn't mean you don’t need to respect other people. A good leader will respect other people because it builds trust and relationships.
- When you’re communicating with someone, sometimes you end up arguing with the person. You have to be aware of your emotions and control them, in order to have effective communication.
- A wise and compassionate leader does not feel ego. Instead, the leader will be grateful to those people that have helped them along the way and will return kindness.
- When leaders are able to show respect and gratitude, they can influence people. Other people's mindsets can be shifted and inspired.
The youths also watched a video “Believe in the value of gratitude” on YouTube and tried to share the qualities that relate to it via Padlet. Lastly, they were also asked to share how they will apply it in daily life.
